Why do Catholics Pray the Rosary?

Her words at the Wedding at Cana beautifully express her role in the Christian life:
“Do whatever he tells you.” — John 2:5

Is the Rosary Worship of Mary?

No.
Catholics worship God alone—Father, Son, and Holy Spirit.

We honor Mary because she is the Mother of Jesus and because Scripture itself tells us that generations will call her blessed.

“Behold, from now on will all ages call me blessed.” — Luke 1:48

When Catholics ask Mary to pray for us, we are not asking her to replace Jesus. We are asking for her intercession, much as we might ask another Christian to pray for us.

The Hail Mary itself is deeply rooted in Scripture, beginning with the words spoken to Mary by the angel Gabriel and Elizabeth.

“Hail, favored one! The Lord is with you.” — Luke 1:28

“Blessed are you among women, and blessed is the fruit of your womb.” — Luke 1:42
And who is that blessed fruit?
Jesus.
Even the Hail Mary brings us back to Christ.

What Can We Pray for?

We can bring God our gratitude, fears, hopes, struggles, decisions, and needs.
We can pray for our spouses and children.
